On May 3, the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) Foundation presented Colonel Scott McKenzie, Commander 3rd Canadian Division Support Base Edmonton, with a cheque for $4,022 from the foundation’s annual Heroes Hockey Challenge (HHC).

The money goes towards the Support Our Troops Fund, which provides financial support and assistance to Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans and their families.
Presenting the cheque to Col McKenzie was Malcolm Bruce, the vice president of fundraising for the PPCLI Foundation.
The HHC is a series of fundraising events that takes place across Canada each year. Since early 2012, the Challenge has raised more than $350,000, which goes towards those who serve and have served Canada, as well as their families. The 2018 edition took place in Calgary, the Foundation partnered up with the Military Museum Foundation. CAF members and veterans got to lace up their skates against Calgary Flames alumni including the legend Lanny McDonald.
Since its founding in 2010, the PPCLI Foundation has raised millions of dollars, which have gone towards such initiatives as assisting military amputees and their families, supporting the creation of Patricia Park and its memorial and wall of honour in Griesbach in Edmonton, creating awareness of PTSD in veterans and their families, and supporting local partner organizations like the Military Family Resource Centre.
